Men's Chorus
Dr. Kelly J.
Turner, director
The
Moores School University Men's Chorus draws its membership
from many different disciplines and departments across
the University, including both music and non-music majors,
and is open to all University of Houston undergraduate
and graduate students, staff, faculty, and spouses.
The University Men's Chorus offers members the opportunity
to learn vocal and ensemble techniques while preparing
a wide variety of literature for men's voices. Their
varied performance schedule includes traditional choral
concerts, National Anthem singing at UH and professional sporting events,
a holiday concert, and the annual Oratorio Concert in
conjunction with the Moores School Symphony Orchestra
and combined choral ensembles. Recent and upcoming performances
include Beethoven's Symphony
No. 9 ("Choral"), Mahler's Symphony No. 2 ("Resurrection"), Mendelssohn's
Elijah, Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms, and invited performances with the
Houston Tidelanders and for the Bay Area Chorus. The University Men's Chorus also features
a small auditioned ensemble called Bob's Your Uncle that focuses on lighter repertoire.
